Empower Young Leaders: International Science & Engineering Fair

Our community and local public school is proudly represented at The International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California this week.

Ben Schuler and Tyler Toepke-Floyd, both freshmen at Wishek High School, qualified their projects at the North Dakota Science Fair in Grand Forks. Ben’s exhibit is titled “Light Speed II.” Tyler’s exhibit is titled “Size Does Matter, But Does Shape?”

Both students are instructed and under the direction of Mr. Josh Wiest, Wishek Science teacher and Wishek native. Mr. Wiest is a graduate of Wishek High School, Jamestown College and the University of Mary. He returned to Wishek after college with his wife, Stacy, who is a Registered Nurse at the Wishek Hospital. They are raising their two daughters in Wishek.

As a rural community we are proud of each and every one of our students and work to prepare them for successful future careers. Whether it be Science, Technology, Math, Speech, Drama, Music, FFA or other academic, arts or athletic organizations, our students are excelling. Our hope is that some of these young leaders will choose to have careers and businesses in and around Wishek and continue to build upon the growing North Dakota economy.

The youth are our future. It is vital we empower them as leaders and give them the opportunity to succeed.

What are ideas you have to educate and empower the next generation of leaders?
