Advice for Our Local Graduates

Tonight our local high school graduates our Wishek High School Class of 2011.
Our community and their families proudly launches them into the world and on our Wishek, North Dakota Facebook page and Wishek, North Dakota Twitter page we asked our readers and fans to share some advice with our new graduates.

On Twitter, Tracie Bettenhausen shared:
"Everything will work out."

Also on Twitter, John Shepard said:
"Go boldly into the world, and bring home what you learn."

Shane Ede's advice via Twitter was:
"Appreciate simplicity."

On Facebook, Denielle Glas shared: "If your not sure what you want to do right away go to a two year first and then transfer for your four year degree. Don't make the mistake I made by going to a four year first."

Fran Materi shared a quote from President Barack Obama both on Twitter and Facebook:
‎"And finally, with the right education, both at home and at school, you can learn how to be a better human being. For when you read a great story or you learn about an important moment in history, it helps you imagine what it would be like... to walk in somebody else’s shoes, to know their struggles. The success of our economy will depend on your skills, but the success of our community will depend on your ability to follow the Golden Rule -- to treat others as you would like to be treated." -- Barack Obama, May 16, 2011. Find the full text here.

Drew Johnson said on Facebook, "1. Fear God and keep His commandments. 2.Be sure of your target and what's beyond. This applies both in the field and life.... Good luck and God bless graduates!"

Lastly on Facebook, Dottie Dockter Elhard shared to "Enjoy Life...it goes way to fast."

Congratulations Wishek High School Class of 2011 graduates! While the yellow brick road of life may not always be perfectly smooth we know the future is very bright for each graduate. Based on the Wall Street Journal unemployment map today, North Dakota has jobs to offer numerous different types of trained and educated employees with the lowest unemployment in the USA. Imagine the possibilities.
